The system - the entire edifice of US finance - is completely corrupt, and the rest of the non-financial fortune 500 are right on their heels. This is what happens when your entire economy is managed for Wall Streets' quarterly expectations game.
1970s TV shows ought not to have significance to a discussion of Afghanistan policy, but,unfortunately it seems there are some disturbing parallels twixt the cat-n-mouse hijinx of Hazzard County and the current approach to prosecuting the war in Afghanistan: notably the failure to open Pakistan to limited military operations and the unabashed embrace of the warlord.
The international press – the chronicler and custodian of anti-Americanism - declare that we are all Americans, and that Barack Hussein Obama is the President of the World. The pathological hatred of everything Bush – much of it exported abroad by the American mainstream media (i.e. the grey and tattered lady, the New York Times, and all the servile publications and media outlets that parrot its fatuous, pseudo-urbane lefty agitprop) – has passed its apogee and will now recede into the mists of history. Rebirth is in the air. What follows the benighted Bush era will be something totally apart from politics, we are told. A phenomenon has been delivered and he will sweep the carcass of what Norman Mailer once described as Washington D.C.’s “deadening verbiage” – along with many of its dishonorable traditions – into the dustbin.
When the Berlin Wall was torn down, a widespread impression abounded that the accompanying end of bi-polarism would herald the end of many a conflict - whether between or within states - since many of these had resulted from US-Soviet ideological antagonism. In other words, the defeat or demise of Communism would result in one big happy family of free-trading, freedom-loving and benevolent nation states, all getting rich and slapping each other on the back.
Declassified files in the Bulgarian secret service archives confirmed that US suspicions about the planting of communist agents abroad were not far from the truth. Two years before Battalion 163 launched its operation, the Bulgarian Politburo had issued a decree marked “Top Secret of Special Importance” on 18th September 1958, proposing to organise an intelligence network of Bulgarians living abroad and for it to be co-ordinated by “reliable and trustworthy army officers and civilians”.
It is not just the unwitting rants for "change" that bear a striking similarity to the lost decade that brought us 9/11, but the same naive world view that gives this Reactionary near cardiac arrest when pondering the imminent election of Barack Obama.
Ladies and Gents, please refer to facts, which you don't have a right to change, as opposed to opinion, which is entirely your perogative. Suffering through the Collapse of Western Civilization these last months I can be forgiven for feeling like I am hallucinating at times, but I honestly can't understand anyone advocating the Magic O once they take a calm, dispassionate look at his record and policies, the naked and relentless advocacy of the mainstream media nonwithstanding. Let's walk through those irritable facts, shall we?
The abject failure of Keynesian economics has finally performed a hard landing on the front pages of this nation’s newspaper of record: the USA Today. Normandy-era fonts notwithstanding, we are left to hope that those alarmist headlines proclaiming “Wall Street Quakes’’ make it past the collective basal ganglia of the body politic and into the frontal cortex where ordinary reason and judgment might elicit the only reasonable reaction from Joe Sixpack: ‘’What the hell?’
Many of the PC promoters come from the behaviouralist school of psychology, which tends to try and categorise human behaviour to death. These people tend to forget that the human mind cannot be reduced to simple mechanistic processes, since it is in fact uncatchable. The mechanistic social formulae that the PC promoters come up with also betray a complete lack of humour. As Lin Yutang wrote, a lack of humour betrays a lack of wisdom.
Retirees, those close to it, breadwinners with mouths to feed, mortgagors, tuition providers, new parents and single parents, the whole gamut of personal and financial responsibility: for all intents and purposes, out in the street with once-hefty retirement accounts wiped out. What do you do at age, say, 57, when that ton of bricks hits you, eh? Probably thank goodness that Bear is the first firm to go down. Because dollars to donuts, it ain’t gonna’ be the last one, no sir. One can only hope that there’s a perpetual, floating bridge tournament … in hell.
It must be arduous simultaneously being the exalted Avatar of White-Guilt Absolution as well as Black America’s Redeemer of Manifest Destiny, but Senator Barack Hussein Obama seems to carry these twin burdens with aplomb and apparent ease. Being called a “once in a lifetime leader” whose candidacy will “make every American proud to be an American” is intoxicating brew for the psyche, yet carrying the hopes of Liberal America on his shoulders comes as naturally to him as taking flight upon a warm draft does to a young eagle.
We launch The Reactionary in the midst of a watershed U.S. presidential election and in the midst of war. Our impetus is the dearth of moral clarity in the international mainstream media (IMSM).
According to a senior Foreign Office official in 1939, it was better for Britain to become an American dominion than a German Gau. This statement epitomised both Britain’s refusal to compromise, and its future readiness to surrender sovereignty to the USA, rather than share it with Europe. His statement proved accurate, to the extent that in 1966, President De Gaulle even said that Britain had no foreign policy. Why is it, as we shall see, that today Britain has become a subset and instrument of US foreign (=military) strategy? Only history can explain the psychological, political and economic factors that have resulted in the UK becoming a client state of the US.
What Messrs. Greenspan, Paulson, Bernanke and “a number of economists” are suggesting is that one day, we just woke up and bam, the emerging markets such as China had suddenly kicked into high gear and OPEC producers simultaneously were hitting the jackpot. These big chunks of do-re-mi, mind you, the culprits behind the current meltdown per HP et al, are comically referred to as “super-abundant savings” which happened to come along during a period of “low inflation and booming trade and capital flows”… This perfect picture, mind you, “put downward pressure on yields and risk spreads everywhere.”…
First Mailer; and then, Buckley. To speak of these men together would seem a sacrilege to some; but their differences in style and their differing, warring ideologies aside, Norman Mailer and Bill Buckley were brothers of an era.
